Ok, the science teacher in me is forcing me to post. :haha: From all that my scientific knowledge tells me, a tumbleweed is alive as long as it is attached to the taproot. Once it reaches maturity and breaks away from the root, it is no longer alive--it's sole purpose at that point is to spread seeds. The taproot itself continues to live, but it's not looking for nutrition. Of course, science has fooled me before... and if this is true, I'd like to read more about it! Do you have any websites to back this up?

Now, the puppy in me is saying, "OOOOH! THAT ROLLY THING LOOKS LIKE A BALL!"

Useless information:The tumbleweed is also known as Russian Thistle, salsola, and saltwort. NASA used tumbleweeds to study their movement in developing the Mars Tumbleweed rover. The leaves and shoots of tumbleweeds are used as food in some cultures. Tumbleweed is not native to North America, and was brought over from Ukraine in a shipment of flax seed.

I couldn't find any sites that said it was alive when rolling--but that doesn't mean it's not true! My brain's just a bit boggled, that's all. Ask your science teacher for more information about it! My mind demands more information! ;)

okay, this might not beexactly what you want, but:
Walks into your life

The first sentence is pretty powerful!!!

God determines who walks into your life....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go. I need this back. If you'll do this for me, I'll do it for you....

Father, God bless all my friends in whatever it is that You know they may be needing this day! And may their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as they seek to have a closer relationship with you.

Amen.

Now send it on to five other people, including the one who sent it to you. Within hours you caused a multitude of people to pray for other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life.

P. S. Five is good, but more is better, who else do you know that needs a prayer.

i got this in an E-mial

yes most taste buds are on the back of the throat that is why we taste when we smell things. Smell is actually supposed to be just a natural extension of taste.

Maybe the last part of this is causing the confusion?

A tumbleweed is the above-ground part of a plant that, once mature and dry, disengages from the root and tumbles away in the wind. Usually, the tumbleweed is the entire plant apart from the roots, but in a few species it is a flower cluster.[1] The tumbleweed habit is most common in steppe and desert plants. The tumbleweed is a diaspore, aiding in dispersal of propagules (seeds or spores). It does this by scattering the propagules either as it tumbles, or after it has come to rest in a wet location.[2] In the latter case, the tumbleweed opens mechanically as it absorbs water; apart from its propagules, the tumbleweed is dead.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tumbleweed

And..
Several annual species form tumbleweeds: after the plant dries it breaks away from its taproot and is driven by the wind as a light, rolling mass, scattering seeds far and wide. The seeds are produced in large numbers and do not have a protective coating or food reserves for the coiled plant embryos.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salsola

You could say that the tumbleweed is looking for nutrients and water for it's living propagules.
