Mcakkay
03-11-2007, 20:04:35
@ Mani

the book actually did give the possibility of A and C being right in certain situations but all situations show B to be right so they just said B was the correct answer. So you were kinda right, but B is still the Right answer

Mcakkay
03-11-2007, 20:05:30

A man goes into a town to get a haircut. The only barber shops are right next to each other, owned by two brothers. He sits across the street, trying to decide which one to go to. One of the shops was squeaky clean and the man had a very neat haircut. The other shop was all messy with hair everywhere, and the man's haircut was not cut well at all, it was uneven and messy. Finally, the man wanting the haircut goes to the shop with the messy shop and haircut. Why did he go to this shop, and not the clean one?

SimplyCrazy
03-11-2007, 21:48:31
Becaus eit was cheaper?

Or because messy's cool?

Anyways, Mcakkay: I try to find my own nicks for everyone. And ofcourse I can't stop you from using it, but it'd really make me happy :)

Maniac
03-11-2007, 21:53:33
neither,try,,ull get it,just think harder.

Mcakkay
03-11-2007, 21:55:00
@ Manic
is it because since they are the only barber shops in town the brothers have to go to each other to get their hair cut. So the barber with the neat hair cut gets his hair cut by the messy barber shop owner. and vise versa. if that makes sense.

SimplyCrazy
03-11-2007, 21:58:33
I was just about to say that *xD*

03-11-2007, 22:01:03

Albert is a keen dog admirer and over the years has had a number of dogs. He has had an Alsatian, a Dalmatian, a Poodle and a Great Dane, but not necessarily in that order. Albert had Jamie first. The Dalmatian was an adored pet before the Great Dane. Sammy, the Alsatian, was the second dog Albert loved. Whitney was housed before the Poodle and Jimmy was not a Great Dane. Can you tell each of the dogs' name and the order in which Albert had them?

Goodnight, Dazie :hug2:

Two men were in a restaurant and ordered the same things: a hamburger and iced coke. One man left in a hurry while the other man stay and ate slowly. an hour later, the slower man died of food poisoning while the other man was perfectly fine. How is this possible?

Mcakkay
03-12-2007, 03:57:04
1. they were in different restraunts
2. the man left because he had diarrea and got rid of all the poisoning
3. the food poisoning was only in one mans meat because the chief cooked on badly or opened a new bag of meat for the guy that didnt get sick..
4. the guy that left..did he actually eat?!?!
5. the poison was in the ice..so the guy that left fast..the ice didnt melt..

Four people are sitting around a campfire after a long day of recreation, when one man comments: "Do you realize that around this campfire, the four of us include a mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle and a couple cousins"?. Question:
A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50." The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

SimplyCrazy

A magician was boasting one day at how long he could hold his breath under water. His record was 6 minutes. Here's one!

A man was found murdered one Sunday morning.

His wife immediately called the police.

The police questioned the wife and staff and was given these alibis:

The Wife said she was in bed reading a book.
The Cook claimed she cooking breakfast.
The Gardener claimed he was planting seeds.
The Maid claimed she was getting the mail.
The Butler claimed he polishing the silver.

The police instantly arrested the murdered. Who did it and how did they know?

Answer - The word " Ton " . Was an easy one .

New one guys -
What TWO things , you can NEVER have for breakfast ?

Adventure
04-10-2010, 11:39:30
Dinner and lunch? :P

Maniac
04-10-2010, 17:10:57
Aww man , That was fast . K , your turn .

Adventure
04-10-2010, 22:56:22
Yay! :D I actually didn't thought that was right. It was the first thing that came to my mind. :P

Alright an easy one:

There is a house with 4 walls. Each wall has one window. When you look outside through the windows you always look at the south. How is that possible?

Maniac
04-11-2010, 08:28:20
Read this one Before , this is because you are at the South Pole .

OK , try this one for size .
Cathy has six pairs of black gloves and six pairs of brown gloves in her drawer. In complete darkness, how many gloves must she take from the drawer in order to be sure to get a pair that match? <- It's pure logic .

Adventure
04-11-2010, 09:22:34
South pole is close but not correct. If the house was on the south pole you always look at the north, not the south.

For the gloves: She must take 3 gloves to get one pair of the same color.

Maniac
04-11-2010, 10:02:52
Oho yeah , Sorry , North Pole is the correct answer .

And to your answer , Not correct . The question is asking for certainty . As in , Cathy cannot be sure that she has got a pair in just 3 tries .

Adventure
04-11-2010, 10:25:30
Yep, North pole is correct. ;)

It isn't?
The first time: she can pick a brown or black glove.
The second time: she can pick a brown or black glove.
This will give 3 possibilities:
- she has 2 black gloves
- she has 2 brown gloves
- she has a black and a brown glove.

If it's the latter, she will get one matching pair for sure when she picks a third glove.

Maniac
04-11-2010, 10:59:01
Hmm , K , the thing is that the question is asking for a number of tries after which Cathy can be SURE . By your Method , She cannot be sure . There would always be an IF .

Adventure
04-11-2010, 18:12:06
Actually she can, unless I have a huge flaw in my logical thinking.

After she has picked gloves 3 she can have:
3 black gloves.
3 brown gloves.
2 black gloves and 1 brown glove.
2 brown gloves and 1 black glove.

In all 4 scenarios she has one matching pair, and thus she can be certain after 3 picks.

Crimsonthread
04-11-2010, 18:47:29
Adventure, are you taking left/right handed gloves into consideration?

I think she would have to pull out 13 gloves.

Maniac
04-11-2010, 19:03:16
And the Price goes to CrimsonThread .

CrimsonThread , can you please help me in explaining why 13 gloves is the answer .
I am not really doing a good job .

Adventure

Adventure, are you taking left/right handed gloves into consideration?

I think she would have to pull out 13 gloves.
LOL, no I obviously didn't. :P :$ Thanks Crimson. :)

It must be 13 in then indeed.

In worst case scenario she would pick
- 6 black left handed gloves (or 6 black right handed gloves)
- 6 brown left handed gloves (or 6 brown right gloves)
After that she always get a match.

Crimsonthread
04-11-2010, 19:09:50

CrimsonThread , can you please help me in explaining why 13 gloves is the answer .
I am not really doing a good job .

Sure. After 12 gloves, she could have pulled out either all left-handed gloves or all right-handed gloves of both colors. The 13th would have to match with something, then. :)

Yay! :D I actually didn't thought that was right. It was the first thing that came to my mind. :P

Alright an easy one:

There is a house with 4 walls. Each wall has one window. When you look outside through the windows you always look at the south. How is that possible?

I always heard this one told like this: "You are in a house with 4 walls, with a window in each wall. Each window has a southern exposure. As you look out a window, a bear walks by. What color is the bear?" A bit trickier, because the bear part distracts people from the southern exposure part. :P

Hmmm.... let me think of another one.

Here we go. Even if you give this to someone else, you can still keep it. What is it?

Is he telling you the truth or is he lying ?

The answer is pretty logical .

You may get to see many a state. If you look after nineteen ninety eight.
