Ok,here is a thread that seems needed on here, since this usually is'nt discussed much. This can be for simply stating what you are,or discussing religion in general, questions to each other and much more.

PLEASE KEEP IT POLITE AND RESPECTFUL OF OTHER'S RELIGIONS!!

Have fun!! :D :)

For starters,I'm a Christian and believe that Jesus is my Saviour.

Moderation note:
This thread is approved on trial basis.
As Alias already mentioned, be respectful towards others, and refrain from provocations. Thank you :)

Hey Alias, I'm happy to see this thread here... I like a lot of the things like " do onto others as you would like happen to you" and such ( that really shouldn't be quoted ) but :P

I don't believe in God, but I accept some people do and wateva they want to believe in it's their choice and i don't discriminate against that sort of thing :)

I agree with Gamer, it's a good thread to have, people don't really discuss religion much these days.

It ends with an "N" when describing someone. :P Not saying any more than that.

gh1
11-30-2008, 06:39:57
ok so that means you're not going to say who you're talking to or anything... no more than that so it could mean that you're talking abotu NOTHING :P

Talking about nothing is talking about something, which happens to be nothing. :P

I'm supposed to be Christian, but I'm really more athiest than anything.

Ok ok ok.. I dont strongly believe Anything however I like to think there is something out there that is good, I am unsure about Jesus and God. However i do know a really strong Jehovahs witness and he believes in God but not in Jesus

Adventure

I don't believe in God or in Gods, and I am not very spiritual either. So I guess that makes me an atheist. However I do believe that God exists for those who believe in him. Jesus is for me just a person, not the son of God, who tried to make this world a better place. I think I would have liked Jesus if I had lived in those days.

lol butterfly, so contradictory.. I don't believe in..... but for those that do than. :hmm: anyway i think i know what you were saying, yes. So, I mean. Do you think Jesus was a man who was crucified and tortured, and that he did do the things that he did "miracles"

Adventure
12-01-2008, 00:01:13
Yes, I absolutely believe it's true he got tortured and crucified, but the miracles is another point. I don't believe he turned water into wine, but it's possible he cured people in a miraculously way. I too don't think he really rose from the dead. If he did, he wasn't really dead. But honestly I think someone made it up to glorify him and make him even more special than he was, and to convince others he truly was the son of God.
Well, I dunno, it has been a long time ago I read those parts of the bible. Lets just say some things are true, some things might be true, other things aren't. Just my opinion.

YEah i can see your point. That was like 2000 years ago eh, but you know A LOT of religions believe in Gods( i know you know :P, but it's hard to believe in a God you can't see or hear, maybe in Satanism you can sacrifice/ritual and see something :-#). So you think 2000 years from now that people will know how we lived or, see we can't really tell i guess :S

i agree with Adventure. I don't believe in the miracles but i do believe there was a person called Jesus. I can't see how he could have come back from the dead and how he made water turn to wine. I think it's good for some people to believe in something greater than themselves but it's just not for me.

i am an atheist, but i think it's better that those who believe in God and Jesus believe. they have something to look forward to when they die, and none of us even know if it's true or not, so we can't say that there IS ABSOLUTELY NO GOD. plus, the lessons and things in the bible are great. i follow them most of the time. i know a lot of religious people, and they are very very nice and sweet. most people that figure out that i'm an atheist try to convert me to whatever they are, and i just can't do it. i just don't believe anymore. i know, that sounds very bad, but it's just the way i am. oh, am i getting off topic? :shy:

Chocbubbles
12-01-2008, 01:04:53
hmm, no ones ever tried to convert me to a religion before.
my school is anglican and we pray everyday. i don't pray and i feel bad that others are, but i just don't see the point in it. i don't believe anyones listening up there.
the only time i pray is wen something terrible has happened like someones died or wen something terrible is going on in the world. that's the only time it ever feels right to pray.

I am a Deist. I do believe in a higher power, but I am not a member of any organized religion. This is a very researched position for me. I have read the Old Testament and New Testament. I have also studied the religions of many cultures, ancient and current, in my spare time as well. I have just seen things in my life that lead me to believe there is a ultimate plan for us all. I believe that all religions that teach their followers to love their fellow man are good, just as long as the followers truly do that and live peaceful lives. I think that those who don't believe in a higher power are also typically good people and want the best for the mankind. There will always be those that twist the words of their prophets to achieve violent ends or follow their own evil agendas. I think the majority of the people in the world are good and decent people though and respect other people and their cultures. I really think the meaning of life is to achieve complete harmony. I truly hope that is possible one day.

sorry for cutting in front of your post so soon Jack, i read it though,

i was just wondering if anyone thinks that talking to the dead is possible, and if your dead then if your afterlife is different :? I guess that doesn't need an answer. Just talking..

I don't know if they can directly speak to you, but I feel they can influence you. Whether its memories or a more direct influence I can't say for sure. I have seen things which make make wonder.

Alias

Hmm,good point GH1..I've often thought about that.

I suppose it's possible...in a sense,I mean if God can create the universe..then why not?

Also(and yes this might sound crazy, but stick with me here)..what if they're "in-between"...or not fully dead.It does take a totall of FOUR MINUTES for a person to be proclaimed "dead".That's when the heart permanately stops beating. So what if?... :hmm:

12-06-2008, 05:48:23
i agree with Jack, they can influence u, i've heard so many stories about it that i'm ready to believe it, even if i haven't exprerienced it myself.

yeah i was confused about that too.

EDIT: 2 Tails was right. some people don't want to use god's name in vain so they stop pronouncing his name and put a dash where the o should be.

hope i'm not a bother, but i never liked to hear people say Jesus out loud, esp. if it was in vain.. , now i tend to do it myself but i try to not say it badly, unless something scary happens and i'm like Jesus!>..._____, but i hated it before for the longest time when others did it,
same with God i guess, anyway

I have many opinions and thoughts on things but the one that stands out is my belief that I am very lucky to be your best friend. I am proud that you express your faith in such a humble way. Being Jewish only adds to your person as I see it and I wouldn't want you to be in any other way. I may not have the same trust in G-d but I certainly have great faith in you! :)

People are starting to threaten me because I tell them I am athiest when they ask. It angers me that I am being shunned and threatened just because I'm one of the few athiests in my school.
I can't believe they would do this. People I've known for a long time who are christian, suddenly hate me because I'm athiest.

might not have to do with religion here, but if everyone gave each other love, respect, and understanding, then wouldn't we be all be happier?

but i guess not all of us are happy people nor do we show the decency for kindness to help out, or to treat each and one another the same as we'd want to be.
