I am a book freak. Once I was reading 10 books at the same time! How many other people are like me, loving to read and play on the computer.
My favorite books are Sherlock Holmes, Redwall, Lord of the Rings, the Prydian Chronicles and the Chronicles of Narnia.

I was wondering, how many people have read the sieres "Redwall" by Brain Jacques? I am about to start the sixth one out of 14.

i also love to read ;) i love english books, i dunno why, i guess in english the words have different effect on me.. i like to read novels, with love stories nd all that romantic stuff :P i read the first or the second one of the cronicles of narnia in english, i liked it, read another one and threw it away :P

btw haven't read those books, sorry ;)

I read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was younger. I think I was probably around 9 or 10 years old. I was raised by very religious people. They bought me the set of books because the stories stand for Bible stuff. I don't think very many people know that...like for example: Aslian the Lion is supposed to be a figure of "Jesus" giving his life for the sake of others. I like C. S. Lewis as an author, but people don't realize that this author was very religious and has written several books that focus in that area besides this book series.

yeah, i caught on to the 'bible' theme the first time i watched it. the 'sons of adam' and 'daughters of eve' had me thinking about it, and then aslan sacrifcing himself. i'm not a big fan of religion, but the movie was great.
my favorite book has to be The DaVinci Code. i'm sooooo exited for the movie!!!
i read it about a year ago.

I love reading books a lot. I can spend whole day reading and never know whats going on around me.
My favourite books are all the six books of Harry Potter. I simply love the way J.K.Rowling has described everything in so much detail. It is just wonderful. I feel like I am in a whole new fantasy world when I read Harry Potter.
I like Sci-Fiction and suspence books too. I love reading all books written by R.L.Stine. Though I am 24, Goosebumps is still my favourite.
"The Alchemist" was a wonderful book as well.

Most of my reading is in the areas of research. It would probably bore most people...reading what I do. In some sort of sick way, I love my research. :P

(I did edit the earlier post by "swineflesh" because it did not relate to this topic and it had unkind words in it...I try to moderate this stuff before you all get stuck reading it. I want to keep this open for what you intended it for Jess. Sorry you all had to see my warning to them  )

I didn't know what was written on swineflesh's post, that is why I asked.

I know what you feel, E.B. ( if swineflesh insaulted potter). I fanyone even dared to slip a harsh word aboput redwall, why I would. Most people to insault my earthly minor idol ( you know what I mean no "god" idols, being a christian and all), sherlock holmes

I have an obsession with studying the brain. I Love love love and I mean love reading up on Neuropsychology. Kinda sick huh? lol  I'm a "brainy" worm. Even my hubby asks me why I won't read a real book. BTW his favorite books are Harry Potter too. hehe... I told on him. :thumby:

It is kinda funny when we go to the beach he reads the latest Harry Potter book and I bring a "brain" type book. lol I must look funny to people.

It's where most of my psychological resarch has been done (My area of interest in Psychology). It helps me understand the structures and workings of the brain. It also helps me understand things such as how drugs affect the brain, give better understanding of disorders of the brain, and how medications, chemicals, neurons, and our own biology (just to name a few) affect the workings of the brain. That way when I counsel people I can better treat disorders, knowing exactly what to do, and wether or not to give them drugs because I know how they work. Stuff like that. Hehe...my hubby says I'm gonna bore ya all by explaining this.

It is not boring but interesting. The brain is a fascinating organ. I also like to read topics about anatomy, fysiology and pathology. I hope one day all parts will fall together as one piece. But that is a long way to go. If one question has been answered, at least two questions are coming up. :?

My favorite books are Nancy Drew Series, A-Z mysteries, Cam Jansen, Bailey school kids series, The Enormous Egg, here comes Charlie, Digital Detectives Series and Junie B. Jones series.

Also, the Game Mandrakes Mansion is one of the Digital Detectives Series online. Digital Detective requires the internet too. Mandrakes Mansion is from Digital Detectives: When nightmares come true #2. There are only three books I know in the series.

I've read some short strips of Bommel and I started with Children of Mother Earth, but it was a couple of years ago and i didn't like it (guess i was too young) but except for that serie i've read almost every single book of Thea Beckman, when i see a new one i don't read what it's about, i just take it cuz i'm sure i will like it. have you read the other serie of her, the titles of the first and second book are Geef me de Ruimte and Het Rad van Fortuin?

I still must read "kruistocht in spijkerbroek". My hubby's father has all the books of Thea Beckman, so when we going to visit and stay a night by his parents, I am going to read it.

There much different from the movie. The books are much better, typically.

The movie is the first 3 books all together.

The first book is the bad beginning and ends just as they leave the city.
The second book is the reptile room, and thats uncly monty.
The third is the wide window with the big window lol.

They have a completely different plot. The whole firestarter brigade and count olaf starting the fire isnt in the books. That was purely for the movie.

I also read the curious incident of the dog in the night time. It is very good. It is about an autistic boy who has a hard life. It gives a good perspective of how an autistic person sees things. I had a friend at school who was autistic, and it was written like how he would have done or said things. I'd definetly reccommend it.

Also, does anyone read Anthony Horowitz? A film called Stormbreaker has come out this year, based on one of his novels. His books are quite good, but I have read better. Just interested to hear what others think of him.

I am an absolute book worm... http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/j0/read.gif + http://www.smileyarena.com/emoticons/Packs/Worms/smile.png . I read a lot of non fiction litterature cuz of work. Of course since art is partly my big passion it mostly revolves around that area, but also books on world history and that sort of thing.
Fiction favorites are classic books by famous authers such as Gogol, Maupassant, Kafka and so on. I used to read some murder mysteries beginning with Agatha Christie and moving on to Patricia Cornwell and Minette Walters. As I child I read the Chronicles of Narnia, then Lord of the Rings and now I have read all the Harry Potter books which I LOVE.
Now I have so many books there are no room for them all so I have to store some of em' in the attic... :(
Guess what I usually get as a birthday present? ;)

My favourite books are "The DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons", both written by Dan Brown. I'm sure that many people here have read it already. I loved them!!!

Length doesn't bother me. All the redwall books are 300-500 pages long adn I finish each of them in about a week

I had that with reading the second book of Lords of the rings. I enjoyed the first book so much, but after the fellowship split, my attention was getting lesser and lesser. And after reading 200 of boring pages I quit with it. But maybe it had something to do with the Dutch translation. I didn’t read the original English version. E.g. Harry Potter in the Dutch translation really sucks.
The original books of Harry Potter were all lend out at the library (and the next half year after), so that's why I started to read the Dutch translation of it and stopped after already 50 pages. The names of the characters where so bad chosen...not any fun to read.

I'm a fan of all kinds of books and genres. My favorite author is Dean Koontz. I also really enjoyed Memoirs of a Geisha (before it was a movie), yes, even at 27, I enjoy the Harry Potter series. :)

The 4th book of the Harry Potter series was also bad translated. The language wasn't the best. As you might know, in Portugal we speak portuguese, and in Brazil, they also speak Portuguese, though it's a different portuguese (to be honest, I don't really like that kind of portuguese), and there were some parts on the book with portuguese from Brazil. I got really mad when I read that! aaarrrgggg.... :(

I know Anthony Horowitz, I just finished his book "Point Blank". good book, cant wait to read the next book.
Just went to the library and checked out "The Amber Spyglass".
Very exciting book, should be an interesting conclusion.
I also checked out "Worse Case Scenario: Holiday Edition"
shows a few things like:
"how to extinguish a burning christmas tree"
"how to make a snowball"
"how to fend off a charging reindeer"
"how to escape a runaway one horse open sleigh"

so far none of these has happend here, but still very entertaining!

I am a huge Stephen King fan and have read all his novels and some of his shorts - just finished reading Cell by King and also a very long book set in the 1860's called Gai-Jin by James Clavell it was a bit of a marathon read but I'd give it 6/10 just because i like all the japanese samurai in it (Gai-Jin means foreigner in Japanese - apparently!)
