Hi
I need some help solving the code from the letter (found in the car, after the morse code) What does it mean that Cryptos is the key? Hints would be welcome!
DoubleEweAreEx

The Cryptos reference I believe is for the next one
The code you are trying to break can be identified as the square code.
Hint : 7x7 grid

Yeah, I thought it was a Vigenere's cipher... but as I am working through it I am seeing that it does not work. So now I'm at a loss...

It's so frustrating trying to crack the code on the page which talks about lot 15. It says something about remembering a part of Skye's letter which didn't seem to make sense when you first read it. Any ideas on this?
LittleDevilDuck
05-13-2006, 03:01 PM
Okay so I know that you're meant to use the keyword from the letter. And it has to do with vigenere's cipher right? Cuz I use it and it doesnt work and I'm very confused...

Anyone had any luck with the 5 digit code for the door?
Its chemical but its also mobile phone number related? ie n=6?
Its not Vigenere's cipher.
Search google as I suggested there is a java decoder there.
PS help me dammit!

Solved it. You just type in 143pearsonstreet at the end of the URL. Now for some help on the next clue after that. It said that a cellphone would be useful in solving the puzzle. I wonder if the letters in the chemical equation are actually asking for the numbers that those letters represent on the mobile number pad? Any help on this?

use junglecats as the keyword, and alphabetize the letters with numbers...i.e. a=1, b=2, etc. start with the number 1 (the letter a) and write the first 4 letters of the cipher in a column under it, put the next 4 under column 2, etc. this should get you there.

It's so hard, I used keyword aas junglecats and then put the alphabet after it, dropping the letters in jungle cat. Put numbers next to it, then wrote the letters in a column under the numbers 1-10, but it still doesn't make any sense.

JUNGLECATS is the keyword then you number the letters according to the alphabet, i.e. a is first then e is second, and arrange the cipher like that.
The next one uses some sort of vigenere cipher and I don't understand how to do it, doesn't work...
lol didn't read your post yet. Can you do the next one?
we need some sort of keyword to solve a vigenere apparently. I thought the keyword might be remember because on the letter the R is capitalised. But I don't think it is, maybe it's kemember, cause it looks like a lower case k.
lol just realised, remember is capitalised r because it is after full stop. Oops...

You have to put the letters in the applet in the order they are written. Pressing the enter key after each line. Then type the keyword in the box provided at the bottom click decrypt and voila the message is revealed. However it is not in standard reading order you have to separate the text into recognizeable words fortunately it isn't difficult. Hint the keyword is alluded to in the handwritten letter accompanying the code.

Then type the keyword in the box provided at the bottom click decrypt and voila the message is revealed. However it is not in standard reading order you have to separate the text into recognizeable words fortunately it isn't difficult. Hint the keyword is alluded to in the handwritten letter accompanying the code.
I was asking the one where he's back on board the ship and he's looking at an email on the laptop.

Use three columns, write the first 14 letters downwards, then write the next 13 next to it downwards, then the remaining letters next to it. This gives the answer reading across each column

I'm also trying to figure out the significance of the numbers for the code in the paper trail riddle. I tried using the letters represented by each number in the periodic table, i tried taking each digit of each number and then writing down the possible letter combinations those numbers represent on a cellphone, i tried adding the digits of each number together and then checked possible letter combinations for that on a cellphone, and i haven't been able to think of anything or anywhere else those code numbers could be significant. Any hints for this problem, please don't hesitate to share with the forum.

You have three rotors (or wheels) on the machine. Set them to build the word "key". Then put in the message and decode it. That's what I did and it worked fine.

Although some people think Haggis is not a real animal. It actually is, but very few people know about this small endangered species (only the gifted). They can be found usually on the peaks of grassy mountains, as they have adapted to live in these surroundings, as they have two short legs and two long legs, for ease to run around the mountain side. Which makes sam a bloody genius, and you are all wrong .....hahahahahahahahaha suck on tahat mofo's.

.. although I'm not sure about the final answer - it appears to be something other than a link to a final page as expected, so I've mailed the author to ask if that's the intention.
Any questions, ask away :)

You have to run it through the same translation process you've used a few times in previous puzzles...

This one isn't a code - it's portuguese :) Altavista Babelfish should give you a good result.
(off to get some sleep now, back tomorrow) :)

Hi puzzlers,
You guys have really put a lot of effort into our puzzle, it is really interesting to read your thought processes as you try to figure out the levels. Just thought I would let you know, there are currently 20 levels but we are planning 45-50, divided into five stages (locations). Good luck and have fun solving!

Thanks, bballbabe4432.
I just wanted to mention that although it is really cool that you guys are working together to solve the levels, in future could you possibly try not to openly reveal level URLs? Actually solving a level by yourself (with or without help) is a much better experience then just jumping levels, and if someone is really stuck in dire straights a PM could help them sort it out.

The translation i got of that Portuguese sentence was; 'Its Leonardo. Gomes, in 12 hours more or less.' 12 hours what, what does this actually mean? Any clues? Either post them here, or you can email me on chris.mapa@xtra.co.nz
