i know of this brilliant animator program called pivot. The creator is PETER BONE. It is 2d animation using stickfigures with "pivot" points. It is frame by frame animation and is extremely easy to use. reccomended for begginners (because easy to do) and masters (because it is hard to master)

http://www.geocities.com/peter_bone_uk/pivot.html

there is also a msn group

As a 3D modeler program I'd recommend Blender. It's more professional than Wings3D and Anim8tor and the innovative way to operate in this program makes the designing of things comfortable. If you take it seriously and wanna be(come) a good 3D Designer use Blender. Check the galleries and compare them, you ll see the differences.

-Windgs3D Gallery (http://www.wings3d.com/gallery.php)

google sketchup saves as it's own save file type

Mistery
11-16-2006, 18:58:22
You can save it as google specific file, however you can save it also as JPG (or BMP, I don't remember), so no problem. You have to click "render" and then you can choose the file type :)

Yay!But I'm only installing/downloading it after I clear out the unwanted stuff on my PC.Also I want the commercial use AM(adventure maker) software, but it does cost a lot of money, not just in dollars, but in pounds aswell.Better save up money then!

Mistery

Well, you can download the free version of AM first, gather some first experience, and you can still buy the license later if you know that you would like to work with it; this is how I did it :)

I've had a little play around with the free version, and I feel advanced enough to use the licensed one.:) :shinyufo:

Why do you need Windows XP,I have ME.Do you think it will still work for Sketchup?

Mistery
11-17-2006, 21:40:32
Since I have XP, I never bothered about this question, but now I read the system requirements and it says that you need
Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Home, or XP Professional

So it seems to me that Windows ME is not working.

Don't worry about it's size... it works great!
any games you've seen in 3d doesn't come close to this!

I'm still trying to render it like Mistery said though.

To get a .jpg image file, just use
File - > Export -> 2D Graphic
and save the image to your pc.

Vitpat

ok thanks I'll try it!

OK! It works you gotta save it as a JPG file or adventure maker won't accept it. I made a 3d house and I was able to put it in adventure maker easily! For those of you who don't know how to drag the icon onto another program just export it as 2d, save it as JPG, come back drag the icon to the adventure maker button in your toolbar (NOTE: Make sure adventure maker is up and your project window is up.) It'll ask you if you want to resisze the picture. Choose whichever and it'll be up, you can go on from there.

Sculptris is a work-in-progress 3D sculpting tool.
Currently there is a first non-stable alpha version out without support for textures.
The created objects can be exported as .obj file.

http://www.drpetter.se/project_sculpt.html

I look forward to the further development of this interesting tool! :D

I did 2 quick sample animations (head done in Sculptris in 10 minutes, so not really well done; then added color in Art of Illusion; and finally did the animation in CrazyTalk) - all done in 20 minutes!

http://www.mysterys-games.ch/arthur2.html
http://www.mysterys-games.ch/arthur_hair.html (added hair on another quickly made head in DAZ Studio)

As I said, these were done in a rush, with a bit more time and a better sound file, amazing things are possible to do.

UPDATE:
Made a better head, and added hair in Art of Illusion (using the hairy script). Sorry, the quality has become much worse due to the conversion from wmv to flv on uploading it to Photobucket.

DeleD, an easy to use 3D modelling software, has gone open source, which means that the new Community Edition (CE) is free, and contains the features of the earlier PRO version. :D

It comes with a few prefabs (vehicles, furniture etc.). You can also download some plugins.

The latest version 2.42 can be downloaded from here:
