I agree that would be cool maybe make the game have Jellybean puzzles instead of orbs! lol maybe all the puzzles lead to saving a pitbull?

Mistery
05-03-2006, 15:37:20
An adventure or room escape?

lol, OneBun!

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 15:40:03
uhh, i like both. point n click of course, i love the idea of saving a pitbull! ummm, i'm to dumb to think of anything.

Mistery
05-03-2006, 15:41:19
Well, I'm currently working on a combined room escape and adventure game related to Mother's Day. Would you like to be the main person in it?

I mean I could make it not as general room escape/adventure but the player is Jellybean.

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 15:42:58
um, no. mothers day makes me sad

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 15:43:49
but my birthday is 24th!

Mistery
05-03-2006, 15:45:19
Oh, sorry. Didn't know that.
Since Mother's Day is near (in many countries at least), I thought I would make a room escape - adventure game for this occation.

Hmmm, I have to think it over.

Mistery
05-03-2006, 15:46:10
but my birthday is 24th!

Well then, Jellybeans adventure on her birthday? ;-)

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 15:51:01
maybe we could work together on it? i dunno maybe we could suggest things to put in game. everyone could! i don't want to be pushy though, so don't do it if ya don't want to. :')

Mistery
05-03-2006, 15:54:16
Well Jellybean, it depends if the suggestions fit into the game that I am working on currently and if I'm able to realise them (don't forget I just started with game making this February without any previous knowledge, so I'm no expert).

I mean you could make suggestions and then I see if these can be integrated into my game or if I'll make completely new one with you as main person after I have finished this one.

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 16:10:19
ok, here it goes...
so, i'm a jellybean(lol) and my 2 pitbulls peety and cider have been stolen. so i go on a journey to find my dogs. i have to go through room escape type scary houses, down dirty alleys, i have to find their collars, leashes, toys, and treats. i find them in a basement dungeon with a bunch more pitbulls and i take them all to live with me in the country! yay!

just an idea :D

Mistery
05-03-2006, 16:11:03
Sounds great! :-)

Well the question now is:
A game with the goal to find things and collect inventory objects to use them or also puzzles to solve?

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 16:16:29
up to you... it's your game! anything sounds good.

Mistery
05-03-2006, 16:19:32
Well, I could do that out of my current game since your ideas are a general type.
:-)

Anyone else a wish?

Eternal Becky
05-03-2006, 16:41:18
Hey Mistery I haven't played any of your games yet :( . Have you ever tried making a series of room escape. I mean you get out of one difficult room and get stuck in another. But every room should be full of challenge and excitement. Something like that.

Mistery
05-03-2006, 16:45:58
Then you should try my games, hehehe! Right now! ;-)

I can combine that with Jellybeans basic idea, though I have to take care not to use many screens since they add a lot to the file size.

I would like to create a big adventure once in the future but the filesize will then be big.

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 17:15:54
do you have any games on here? if so which ones... i want to play them! if you have other games not on here, where can i find them?

Mistery
05-03-2006, 17:17:12
There is a list of my games in the first post of this thread here:
http://gamershood.com/forum/showpost.php?p=37687&postcount=1
And all my games can be found in the Downloadable Game forum here:

Sorry, had to make some corrections, now it should be correct.

i downloaded one and it won't let me play. it just keeps asking me if i want to install it.

Mistery
05-03-2006, 17:33:00
Yes, you have to install it. And then you will find it among your programs. You have to use Windows for them as they don't work for Mac.

hi!

Hi! I see you are a new member. Welcome! Have you played any games you like here at GamersHood?

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 17:37:54
yup, it's on my desktop, how many times do i need to install it? i did 3 times

Mistery
05-03-2006, 17:40:53
Well, usually it downloads and installs automatically into the folder where your programms are. Then you should be able to locate if you press "start"-button and look in "all programs" and start the program from there.

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 17:46:08
still won't work. just keeps telling me to install.
maybe i'll try a differnet one.

Mistery
05-03-2006, 17:50:37
Did you choose "open" or "save" when starting to download? If you choose "open" it should be as I described (downloads, then asks you if you want to install it, you say "yes", it shows where it will be installed, usually C:\Programs, then the installation process should run for a couple of seconds, then it should tell you that the installation was successful, you must click "finish" and then be able to open it as I described). What browser do you use?

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 17:55:12
i got the hunt for the crowns to work! yay!!
it made me nervous though cuz i couldn't find how to exit the game and i'm at work. but i figured it out, well, i'm off to play some of your games! weee!!

Mistery
05-03-2006, 17:57:44
Oh, great that it works. Well the graphics of the first games are not so great but the last couple of games are much better.
Then enjoy them and if you get stuck, you can get hints from the correspondent threads or my walkthrough page (not yet for every game though):
http://www.freewebs.com/mysterysgames/index5.html

Jellybean
05-03-2006, 18:03:55

Sorry, I don't know this abbreviation. Is it some kind of examination?

OneBun
05-08-2006, 17:13:30
It is an American exam. SAT stands for "Scolastic Aptitude Test." It's a test that highschool 11th graders have to take. Thier score determines what kind of college they will get into. If they score high and have great grades they are likely to get in any college of thier choice. If their SAT's are low then they can still get in college if they have good grades but it really limits them.

Mistery
05-08-2006, 17:38:36
I had latin but I forgot most things.

OneBun
05-08-2006, 17:45:15
I have an uncle who teaches Latin to high school students. It is so unused...at least in the USA. I took German, while everyone else generally takes Spanish. Spanish is Practical here b/c Mexico being on our border. Lots of people on the upper part of the US take French b/c of Canada at the border. I have taught myself a little of the European languages....at least some practical phrases b/c I want to travel Europe one day when I get a chance. Does that sound strange--going against the American norm?

Mistery
05-08-2006, 17:48:06

ooh god!! that's,. well.. i dunno what to say.. i heard of such stuff before but, i mean, twelve!! i hadn't even kissed a boy at that age!! i'm sorry, but that's the first think popping up in my mind.. i once heard of someone having three daughters, i guess like 17, 15 nd 12 or something and the two oldest already had a child and the youngest was pregnant.. i don't think it's really natural having a kid at that age, you have to get an adult before you can raise you own kids!!

OneBun

I haven't ever been to Germany before-if that's what you're asking. My 2 teachers I had are both from there and came to America to teach it here. It is a bit strange that the both would come from the same place. I took 3 years of German classes. Believe it or not, German is a great language to learn because a great deal of European languages have similarities to it. I can recognize words in other languages because of my German studies.

Cyber Girl
05-09-2006, 15:59:09

Yeah, I can get by on reading some Dutch. i think it is one of the closest to German. I may not know every word in a sentence but I can usually get the overall picture of what is being said. I see that many want this new thread. So, upon request I will start a language sharing thread... I go creating now...

Do you ever use the computer slang (guess that's what you call it) BTW? I'm asking 'cause I'm just curious if that is an American slang as well.

Here's some common ones I know, just for examples:

addy: address

cuz: because

d00d: dude

h4x: WATCH OUT FOR THIS ONE!!! "hacks," or what a computer hacker does.

joo/j00 & u: you

kewl: cool

well, as adventure said, btw stands for: belasting toegevoegde waarde; taxation added value, which is just a 'slang' (if i explained the word well) for stuff you buy in the store, something like that. i use slangs for stuff on messenger in dutch, but there aren't any really common ones, but most of the slangs i use are for saying goodbye or if you like someone, like this ones:
nwly: never wanna lose you
wjnmk: wil je niet meer kwijt (same as above but in dutch)
hvj: hou van jou (love you)

and the rest i use are just as i pronounce them (mostly in my dialect)

OneBun
05-16-2006, 13:28:11
Text messaging on cellphones is so popular in America. I think the next generation won't be able to write in complete sentences because just about every word has a slang/shortened version. lol

Hollandgirl
05-16-2006, 13:30:06
haha yeah! :P but it's way easier to write in short stuff, takes less time :P by the way, does w/ means with?? why the / in the end, i don't see the connection and i'm curious :P

OneBun
05-16-2006, 13:33:29
yeah w/ is "with"....w/o is "without"... b/c is "because." They are actually very old "Shorthand" English abbreviations, rather than slangs.

Hollandgirl
05-16-2006, 13:34:50
oh right, and the / just stands for: look, it's shortend?

OneBun
05-16-2006, 13:36:14
Yeah "/" is just a sign that it has been placed in shorthand.

Hollandgirl

OneBun
05-16-2006, 13:44:33
You're welcome! Englishcan be such a weird language to get used to because it is forever picking up new slangs. It makes those trying to learn it have a difficult time. I also speak fluently in American Sign Language...that too has it's own slangs used only among the deaf which makes it even more difficult if you speak both... to keep up and not switch over. lol!

Hollandgirl
05-16-2006, 13:46:02
i usually get them, and i saw the 'w/' a couple of times before and i knew what it meant, but i didn't get the '/'. but i like enlglish, i dunno why, but i like it

It is so frustrating to have your stuff stolen EB. I'd be mad if somebody stole my walkthrough. I had that happen here at GamersHood before. Actually it was the same person... they stole several people's walkthroughs and claimed them ast thier own. I gave them a piece of my mind! (person was "COOL girl" http://gamershood.com/forum/member.php?u=605 most of thier posts are pirated!).

I had my original Avatar stolen by a gif company. They ignored my requests to remove it. That burns me up even now as well!

Yes Onebun I can understand how you must have felt when your avatar was stolen by those people :(

I take so much pain while writing those walkthroughs. It is not an easy job. And when someone just posts your walkthrough without mentioning the name of the original author it really hurts. But I did write a post there saying "This is my walkthrough from GamersHood."

I remember "Coolgirl". She stole Mistery's walkthrough too. If you see, most of her posts are stolen walkthroughs.

Well as you know it's impossible to swim in the dead sea. And when you go in the sea your whole body becomes very very oily. It's so difficult to remove the oil but it is also good for your skin. It's fun to see people float in the Dead sea.

Some info from Wikipedia on Saving the Dead See:

The Dead Sea is rapidly shrinking because of diversion of incoming water. Between 1930 and 1997 it fell 21 m [2]. Although the Dead Sea may never entirely disappear (because evaporation slows down as surface area decreases and saltiness increases), the Dead Sea as we know it could become a thing of the past.

Because it is not realistic to cease using the Jordan River for human needs, one idea to save the Dead Sea is to bring in water from the Mediterranean or Red Sea, either through tunnels or canals. Although a Mediterranean structure would be shorter, Israel is now committed to building a Red Sea canal in deference to Jordan's needs. The plan is to pump water 400 ft (120 m) up the Arava/Arabah from Aqaba or Eilat, tunnel under the highest point of the Arava/Arabah valley, and then canalize the river of seawater as it falls 1700 ft (520 m) to the Dead Sea. The desalination plant would be constructed in Jordan.

Adventure
05-19-2006, 18:42:46
It is really a large problem. The farmers need the water for irragation of their land, but because of it the dead sea is drying up, what is bad for the tourist sector. Hope that the (underground) canal is the option to solve this problem.
But will it be in time? Lets hope for the best.

Jess
05-19-2006, 23:37:57
Yes, the Dead Sea has the following

1. It serves as a tourist attraction
2. The minerals found there have healing properties
3. It is cool

I am so angry right now :nunu: . One more walkthrough that I have written is stolen again without mentioning the authors name. Once again it's a member of The-geek forums. Mistery
05-20-2006, 15:37:50
Yes, I have seen it and I can imagine that this hurts.
Every time I post a walkthrough or hints written by other persons, I give credit and tell their name. And even if I post a walkthrough as a summarization of what other people have found out, I usually mention that the walkthrough is the result of a cooperation of many people and not my merit.
But I guess we can't do anything else than what you did (told that the walkthrough was written by you).

Eternal Becky
05-20-2006, 16:16:50
No I didn't inform the moderator of The-Geek. When I gave the walkthrough for "Out file #01" in GamersHood and found out someone posted it on The-geek I did write "This walkthrough is written by me from gamersHood". When I wrote this the person who gave my walkthrough was kinda rude. But this time they have taken my walkthrough of "Escape from china secret room" . I didn't say anything to them.
I had taken so much efforts when I wrote the walkthrough for "Out file #01". It was very difficult to write it as I had to play the game so many times. It was not an easy game. They should have atleast mentioned that this walkthrough is from GamersHood forums, that would have been ok.

That almoist seem illegal (at least here in the States).

The Geek people do not think abput others and could at least post your name even beter ask your permission.

Jess, it was 1 or 2 persons doing this. And I think it is pretty unfair to attack all the members of a forum boards just because a very small number of them have done something that they should not have done.

@Eternal Becky: I posted there to put things clear :-)

I know it is hours later, but I just wanted to state that I am so sorry to hear that this rude person lacks personal respect for you. It is really wrong of them to have done that.
:repa: ...makes ya wanna bonk them. Again, I'm glad to hear you said something the first time, and Mistery did so this time.

I remember when it happened here by that one person, who blatently stole walkthroughs almost every time they posted (they even stole from both Mistery, and myself). I couldn't help but post right behind them stating how mad I was for them being so dishonest. My hope was, that thier reputation would follow them and they would have to deal with embarrassment for thier behavior.

I remember the sadness all to well. I know who they are now... I went and looked. I will remember that name as a dishonest one. However, I see yours as one I can respect!

I just thought that it was time for a new Obion game and wanted to check for news. I was sad to read this:
"Because of the surprising popularity of the Obion games, our bandwidth charges have tripled, and we will have to limit production of new games."

aw cum on she gotta be cute!! i love babies! i'm the youngest in my entire family, i don't have any niece of nephews younger than me and i can tell you that's no fun either!! i've always been 'the youngest'. everyone turns to my brother or my sister and they never talk to me, i feel sooo sad :( no just kidding, but it's not very fun to be the youngest..
but well, then again it's not great when a younger person (like your sister) just does wathever he/she wants and you can do nothing about it ;)

But then what about being the oldest. I am the oldest and was the only girl until sissy came along last year.

Well, she is kinda cute, dear, but still. All of siblings are annoying, but I would loose my head with out them.

I agree that people should think about things first before doing them. I totally agree with your signature and understand it. Believe me it's not you hun!

Your signature makes me think about what is bugging me this week. It is not that I don't understand what you are saying I even agree. Let me explain. I live in the #1 worst crime city in the United states. This week I was watching the news...here's what bugged me.

Top News Story: Barbaro the race horse broke a leg. They replayed his injuring himself...I'm not joking...7 times in the sports cast. It really upset me. Then they talked very extensively about the surgery procedure he recieved.

Then the last and least important story: was someone broke into a home of a family of 5 and robbed and murdered them. This stuff happens so often in this city that it has become 5 minute news.

Last week a cop was shot and killed during a robbery. Huge news again came on about him and the local cops made big news coverage in trying to raise money for the family.

What really irratates me is I will never get used to the idea that a murder is only worth 5 minutes of my attention. Nobody raised money for them... no discussion about funeral plans...nothing more. There were brand new murders to spend 5 minutes on this morning...moving on...but wouldn't you know it...the cop and the race hourse both got more time today. I'm so sad about that.

So it is not you...I agree with your signature. I try to live that way. I just live in a city that is more negative than positive. That's all. Sorry about that...Why I scored yours high...I so wish it to be true!

I am still of it. In Philadelphia there is in one day more violence then in a hole year in the Netherlands. I already knew that, but it I really are still of it.
And the injustice, it make me sad and angry.

I live in a village (about 15.000 inhabitants). The most of the people are busy with their own small lives and what others are doing wrong, not themselves, because every one think they are right and don't even listen to others anymore. They are not open minded. We don't have here a real crime scene, but actually if there were no law, it would be a blood bad. For now we only think of doing these horrible things.

I think it is really admirable that you are keeping up the good spirits and think about things and not only go with the flow. You are a sweetheart.

I am going to sleep now, so good night :fol:

I'm sure you've seen enough of your own evil in this day in age it is so difficult to avoid hearing about such stuff. I'm also not surprised that you've heard about the Philadelphia reputation. I can't complain though my life has been good over the last several years.
