Is the seventh grade the second last year of elementary school? According wiki it depends on where you live.
Our education system is very different from the English speaking countries, but to more or less answer your question we only have nicknames for the first year students at secondary schools (kids/teens are 12 when they attend secondary education) .
Nicknames are for example: Brugpieper, brugmug, brugsmurf.
Brug = bridge
pieper = potato
mug = mosquito
smurf = smurf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Smurfs)
They got those names because the first year is named bridge class in Dutch, and those 12 years old are usually short. No idea who thought of those nicknames.
Cool Leontien, enjoyed that insightful post. We didn't have any generic nickname for 7th grade that I can recall. The cool kids wanted to be called 'surfers' and the country (rural) types were 'goat-ropers'
When I was in 7th grade, no, we didn't call them sevies. LOL. They were just seventh graders. Of course when we were in the 8th grade (our junior high was just 7th and 8th) they became the ANNOYING LITTLE 7th graders. But that's all.
