we just need all the help we can get for 15! btw anyone got any ideas?
Flipmode
07-21-2006, 08:50 AM
Here is some clues for 15: (yah I solved it)
Everything you need is inside those three lines of the haiku
The fact that it is a haiku is a big clue.
NO other information is useful. You don't need anything but those three lines of the poem. One last thing, yes, the fishy was a red herring.
The answer will be a 9 letter word.
16 looks like a monster so I"m just going to go to bed. I"ll be back in about 6-8 hours if you still need help with it.
Joanna
07-21-2006, 08:53 AM
Well done!!! Now if I just understood what you said I'd be laughing LOL

_becca_
07-21-2006, 09:27 AM
a haiku has a pattern
5-7-5
the answer has 9 letters....
you may have to:
unscramble
Joanna

Does anyone have any idea what on earth the clue in the source means?
_becca_

07-21-2006, 11:00 AM
Wahoo seems 15 has been solved. I've read the clues, but can't get it.
Is it 3 letters from each line?
Joanna
07-21-2006, 11:07 AM
I'll send you a further hint donna, try to keep things simple!
Donna
07-21-2006, 11:12 AM
Thanks Joanna, I was pretty close I was just counting the letters wrong.
Wahoo onto 16 :)
judyg8or
07-21-2006, 11:39 AM
God job on 15!!!
Can someone give me an extra nudge??
I have tried 3 letters from each line:
the 6,7,8 from fist
8,9,10 from 2nd
6,7,8 from third
&
counting from the beginning
every 5 then 7th, then 5th letter
nothing worked!
Joanna
07-21-2006, 11:43 AM
You are so close now from each letter you come to count on those numbers each time like you said at the end, you need to unscramble what you get!
judyg8or
07-21-2006, 11:45 AM
??
You mean
include the counted number in the next count?
Joanna
07-21-2006, 11:46 AM
No, just count on from the letter you are at!
judyg8or
07-21-2006, 11:47 AM
oh dear-- I am doing that -- but what I get does not anagram into anything :(
I have
ascuseudf
that is every 5th, 7th, then 5th letter...
no anagrams for it :/
Joanna
07-21-2006, 11:54 AM
I think you may have counted something wrong, you started out ok!
You need to repeat that pattern 3 times!
judyg8or
07-21-2006, 11:57 AM
lol I am going batty on this thing!
I've done it 20 times always with the same result..
have it typed into notepad as one long string of letters--and get the same thing that way too--
am i supposed to be counting the punctuation???
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 11:58 AM

Thank you so much, 24 hours on the same riddle was getting a little old :)
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 02:06 PM

No, the letters I got didn't anagram. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Spacechild399

Thanks, got it now. Was it you that first solved 15? That was very impressive.

Thanks, got it now. Was it you that first solved 15? That was very impressive.
No, you can thank Flipmode for that!
The zip code in the bank address isn't from Pennsylvania. Maybe thats what we need to look at.
Wish I knew what the source clue meant. There is so many places to hide stuff here.
If you anagram the dates it spells tobaccoDidn't work though.
Donna
07-21-2006, 02:44 PM
Why are the 2nd 3rd and 4th transactions
2rd, 3th and 3th????
I can't find a meaning for it. It seems its standard ??
This is what I've been working on.
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 02:44 PM
The zip code isn't assigned to a place, so I don't think it's that, but then again, anything could work at this early stage....
Why are the 2nd 3rd and 4th transactions
2rd, 3th and 3th????
I can't find a meaning for it. It seems its standard ??
This is what I've been working on.
Ahhh, I completely missed that. Good thinking.
Does anybody have any theories on the source clues B*** P*****?

Blue Peter LOL
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 02:54 PM
I don't think you could even call them clues, but I'm still thinking about them.
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 02:55 PM
Anybody any theories about the "code" they say they found??
No, not beyond finding the word tobacco earlier. I tried a couple things with the numbers, but no luck so far.
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 03:01 PM
No, not beyond finding the word tobacco earlier. I tried a couple things with the numbers, but no luck so far.
What if it's in the words?? Because this riddle's maker seems to like word play.
Could be, really it could be anywhere. We have no real clue as to where we should look for the code. I guess we will just have to try every idea that pops in our heads until something happens.
Donna
07-21-2006, 03:19 PM
Argh there's too many numbers, letters, clues Geez these get harder.
Donna
07-21-2006, 04:38 PM
Have you made any progress yet jack??
I'm playing another riddle to take a break for a bit. I'll try again in a little while.

I'm playing another riddle to take a break for a bit. I'll try again in a little while.
What a great idea! I'm off too for a bit.
No, just count on from the letter you are at!
I followed the 5-7-5 pattern and got the nine letters, but they don't anagram to anything. I have: ascosecye Is the answer more than one word.
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 05:42 PM
I just PM'd you.
Hee hee. I can't believe I missed a letter when I transcribed the phrase and didn't notice it. Oops! Thanks.
But how is the solution word "poetry to my ears". :au: I don't see the connection.
Spacechild399
07-21-2006, 06:03 PM
It was a red herring.
Ahhh, I completely missed that. Good thinking.
Does anybody have any theories on the source clues B*** P*****?
Papa Smurf! lol. Not him though. This one's a stumper.
I can think of a few in that category though: Vishnu, genies, Tuaregs.
Ooh, here's a hereditary condition (that occured in Kentucky) that refers to that: methemoglobinemia. Here's a link about that: http://www.life.uiuc.edu/bio100/bluepeople.html
Don't forget the las vegas group. :)
And royalty are called Blue-bloods. Have I clouded the issue enough? Sorry, I tend to be tangent-prone.
Who knows with this one. Given we really don't know what to look for anything could be correct.

I just got up and only have five minutes to look at this new puzzle, but I found something right off the bat.
First letter of each description anagrams to a word.
REGRWO
First letter of the second word in each description anagrams to a word.
NTRHEC
I don't know if this means anything or not. Time to go to work!! :(
Great job on solving 15 BTW :)

Great job on solving 15 BTW :)
Thanks. I left the others a few clues and they were able to figure it out too!
#16 looks hard.
OOOHH If if you turn the number in each date into a character (1= A) and anagram you get tobacco
From my notes I have the words:
tobacco, trench, and grower as clues. I bet you guys solve this in another hour.
Why are the 2nd 3rd and 4th transactions
2rd, 3th and 3th????
I can't find a meaning for it. It seems its standard ??
This is what I've been working on.
I don't think the 3th is significant. I found it shown that way in several sites.
I found the tobacco earlier, I didn't find the others though. All those words do kind of fit together though.
Samuel

any hints for 15?
This probably means nothing but "Show Me The Money" is the name of a television program.
I seem to remember Richard Dawson saying it on the Family Feud before revealing the answers, but I could be mistaken. At any rate, the answer's not him.
Samuel
07-21-2006, 07:00 PM
alright on 16, i thought show me the money came from Jerry Maguire
any hints for 15?
5-7-5 Count the letters in the Haiku. Use the 5th then 7th then 5th letters (repeat pattern twice more) to find 9 letters. Anagram.
Samuel
07-21-2006, 07:06 PM

_becca_
07-21-2006, 07:28 PM
have we had any progress????
i was looking... KoL is Kingdom of Loathing
when youre royalty doesnt it mean you have blue blood??? could be wrong
Joanna
07-21-2006, 07:30 PM
I'm on KoL too and I don't think that has any relevance other than as something to use as an address, I might be wrong though! I might go look for him in there LOL

Samuel
07-22-2006, 09:39 PM
if someone were to get 16 i wouldnt
Samuel
07-22-2006, 11:32 PM
seriously?!?!?!
Yes, see my post on the other forum. You need to go to wikipedia.
Samuel
07-22-2006, 11:36 PM
ok i looked there but i havent done any of the stuff you mentioned, where do i start?
The cents are the key, look for a town in virginia then use wikipedia. Then use the words Flipmode posted earlier to find a person.
Samuel
07-22-2006, 11:45 PM
alright ive anaagrammed the cents and got something that i initiallt thought would be virginia but turned out to be nonsense "inlarva" or other combos
Its a town in virginia, don't anagram. Work top to bottom.
Samuel
07-22-2006, 11:52 PM
lol i must be especially thick today ive got the word but searches and wikipedia have gave me nothing
PM me what word are you putting in wikipedia?
I'm glad I quit the other riddle now :)
Samuel
07-23-2006, 12:32 AM
lol i'll PM you, are you still there?
PMed you back, did you read my other PM?
Oh and flipmode your original idea was just what I needed to solve it. I had the tobacco, but it wasn't until I saw the other words you found that I realized that was probably correct and not just a coincidence.
Samuel
07-23-2006, 12:40 AM
yup i did, it gave me an idea, which didnt work, onto 17...

Flipmode
07-23-2006, 12:45 AM
its alright i made it :) how far are you guys now? and what the hell does x10 mean?
I'm on 17
10^-9 = 0.000000001
I guess we need to multiply something by that.
Or its a stupid red herring
Samuel
07-23-2006, 12:46 AM
but why is an x in front?
The x could mean hex code too. So it could be 16^-9.
Samuel
07-23-2006, 12:57 AM

Flipmode
07-23-2006, 02:09 AM

Samuel
07-23-2006, 02:11 AM
are you serious? lucky
you are totally serious? you just guessed that? MAN youre good :)
OMG, I was trying 6 letter words earlier with a repeating letter in the middle earlier, but I didn't have any luck.
What direction did you go with your random answers?
Samuel
07-23-2006, 02:22 AM
i'll PM you jack what flipmode did me
Well, luck or no luck I'm glad you got it. This riddle has been hell. If it wasn't up to teamwork on this one I don't think we would have come so far. We have all been the first to solve at least one of these levels after being stuck for long periods of time. I know it would have taken me a lot longer to get the haiku one if flipmode hadn't solved it.
The sinatra song comes to mind in 18.
Flipmode
07-23-2006, 02:27 AM

It wasn't a total guess. But I had some stuff working in my mind and came up with something kind of like the answer so I just threw it in there and it worked!
I really don't know how to get that though.
On the next one #19, highlight the picture in your browser and get ready for some evil numbers

Hmm, perhaps there call signs are the key.
Good thinking.
Samuel
07-23-2006, 03:05 AM

Do you think there are people out there that DON'T click the spoiler button?
Samuel
07-23-2006, 03:17 AM
no i dont
lol proves your point eh?
The last one has two listings. Neither anagram into anything useful though.
And I pretty much click spoilers even if I don't need to.
Samuel

I used http://casr.adelaide.edu.au/craig/wow.html
to help me solve it. Its a good thing because it is a very obscure word. At least I've never heard it before. It does say it is a vocabulary lesson though.
Edit: I just looked up the answer word to find its meaning, and it does relate to the 'devout' clue given in the title bar.

Me too. Thats where I started, even though I'm sick of trying to use codes and make ciphers! The first one is likely pi or3.14 since its a math answer according to the submit button.
Samuel
07-23-2006, 03:55 AM
thats what i was thinking (for pi)
wondering what to do with the wav file.
thanks for the help on that last one flipmode i didnt know there was a second possibility
In the second door:
Is that from Star Wars or Indiana Jones, it definately sound like John Williams work. I assume Star Wars from the title

Samuel
07-23-2006, 03:58 AM
i'll try :) i brute forced the cipher on the 3rd page but got nothing
I'm trying a few things with door 3 now. I was thinking the capital letters could be the key to the lowercase or vice versa. If there was two key letters in a row I would decode it with the first one, then decode that result with the next one. I got:
eorjmbo for lowercase and srjffdza for uppercase. Neither make much sense obviously.
Samuel
07-23-2006, 04:02 AM
have you seen the source for door 3? confusing
i thought we had to use the "pi code" (dont know if thats real) for door 3, i.e. use the numbers of pi to shift the ciphertext, didnt work. any other ideas?
p.s. stumped by door 2 source code

I'm trying to do the uppercase with one shift and the lowercase with a different shift.
I've read of a caesar code where the cipher shifts every time you change case. That could be difficult

That would be extremely difficult. Its worth working on though, I think I'll give that a shot tomorrow. I'm going out in about 20 minutes so I definately don't have time to do that now.
Samuel
07-23-2006, 04:24 AM

How far have you gotten so far? I can maybe help you from there.

Congratulations Jack for solving 16! Myself and Spacechild kept bumping into each other on here and thought everyone had given up on this!
So...whats the secret??
EDIT: Nm I got it. :)

Yeah! Congrats to Jack on 16---
I am having problems getting the town though....
from top to bottom I have a 7 letter word starting with V-- which Wiki has never heard of..
If I assume the 1st 2 letters of my word might be referring to the state, and take them out--
Wiki has still never heard of it...
am sure I am missing a step...as usual :/
never mind-- I think I am getting it--
got a hit on google by dropping the last letter !

I think I am going back to Dracula LOL
Even after entering half the crap on the Wiki page, it still doesn't work--
This one is soooo frustrating because you rarely have that feeling of
"AHA!" I got it--it is more like guesswork :/

I'll second that. #16 for example, rediculous answer!! It took me yonks of searching random names etc!
If you need more help, PM me.

There are NO clues for 17
Noone solved it. I just lucky and guessed the right answer.
I'll PM both of you with it. Delete it if you don't want to know.
man, i've needed the hints here for a lot of the other levels, but
holy jhc, i got this one:
the page source has x10^-9, which denotes "nano". now think of what kind of "waves" are that small.

got it.
keep the call signs stacked on top of each other in the order from the picture.
The first letter is in the first row, second letter is in the second row, etc.
I used http://casr.adelaide.edu.au/craig/wow.html
to help me solve it. Its a good thing because it is a very obscure word. At least I've never heard it before. It does say it is a vocabulary lesson though.
Edit: I just looked up the answer word to find its meaning, and it does relate to the 'devout' clue given in the title bar.
i think i'm blind, i don't even see any call letters in/on #18........?
Use IE, if you are using firefox you won't be able to see the numbers.

I need help on 17 the waves one. I gather I am looking for a 6 letter word with a 'double' 'letter in middle? I've tied to guess but I'm not that good.

donna, see hint a couple pages earlier (post #1215), if you need a bit more...
look into the LENGTHS of certain WAVEs
anyone make progress on #19?
the fact that "all solutions" have a "similar format" should help.
but what of the "top to bottom" entering of the final answer? 3 words that have some sort of hierarchy (vertical-wise)??

Finally finished, needed quite a bit of help on 19 though. 20 is the last stage.

i'd be happy w/ any anwswer to any door, or just a hint or whatever.
I'll PM you, I didn't solve it, but I have the answer. Someone explained door two to me but I didn't understand it. They gave me the number but I don't remember it now so all I can give you is the answer. I'll put it in a spoiler in case you don't want it.

lol jack there wasnt even a point in asking me whether i wanted it or not, you knew i'd open it (the spoiler)
and WOW is this not your typical wordsearch i found the somewhat "hidden word" and think i found one word in the last 5 minutes, being as i dont know the key yet. this could take awhile :)
The next one is way easier, I had no problem at all solving that one. I left a clue on the other forum if you need it.
I normally don't cheat, but after the explanation was given I was none the wiser to solving it, so I opted to get the number. Maybe it would make sense to somebody more familiar with music compostion.

Hi Nicolet, welcome to the forums :)
Most of us have played this riddle more than 2 years ago, so I doubt that anyone would remember details. But check these posts by jack, they might be helpful to you :)
