I'm reading Deadheads by Reginald Hill. A crime novel. This the storyline in short:
"Life is a bed of roses for Patrick Aldermann when Great Aunt Florence collapses into her Madam Louis Laperrieres and he inherits Rosemont House with its splendid gardens. But when his boss, 'Dandy' Dick Elgood, suggests to Peter Pascoe (police) that Aldermann is a murderer -- then retracts the accusation -- the inspector is left with a thorny problem."

I love reading and it makes me laugh to see so you all reading the same books as me (Narnia, HP, Eragon, Pullman).
It's also unusual as they are all children's books. I'm 27 and I love children's books, but I do get a few funny looks when I'm lurking in the children's section of Waterstones.
My favourite author is Tamora Pierce and I'm currently (re)reading Terrier and then it will be Blade of Fire by Stuart Hill.

I'm just about to start re-reading the Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman in preparation for the film.

Also, I've just finished Lady Friday by Garth Nix. It's the fifth book of 7 in a superb series. All the books are named after days of the week. Truly, truly recommend this series.

I love Dean Koontz and have all his books, waiting on delivery of Dead and Alive part 3, "The Good Guy" coming out in June and "The Darkest Evening of the Year" at the end of November. I just finished a book called "The kiss of the dragon". It talks about a person that kills women of the age 26. I would enjoy it much better if it didn't include some useless information, and didn't repeated the same sentence every couple of lines, or the same words over and over again in the same paragraph.
But it was quit good book to read. I didn't like the end where the murderer kills herself instead of her real mother. Why is that?
The whole story is about a woman who married the person she loved after so many arguing with the boys parents (we are talking old times here). After that because she could have a child her mother in law poisoned his son's mind to divorce her. But the problem wasn't hers, he had the problem. In the old times (at least in Greece) whenever a couple didn't had a child was always the womans fault.
So the girl decided to do something about her, and cheat at her husband for the first time in her life. Then she gave birth to a healthy baby but there was a small problem with it. It had a disease and had both male and female organs. But the female part was stronger. The mother exchanged the baby with another baby girl, that her mother had died after the birth, and there was no father or family to claim it. She did that because when the parents in law sow what she gave birth to they will poison more her son's mind and that would be the end of her marriage.
The other girl had grown up with the nurse that helped the yong mother, but she was mental ill as the years passing. She didn't allow her to have friends, to go to school and she told her that she was cursed from God. When the step mother died she told her that the real mother was someone else and she sold her because she was cursed.
The girl after many disappoints in love she decided to talk revence of her real mother. So she decised to kill all the girls born at that hospital at that day (4 in total plus her 5). The last's girl's mother was her real mother. Then she visited home and told her that because of abandon her she suffered all her life, never been loved by anyone, not even by her step mother. And then the mother said that she never forgot her and always made a second cake for her and never forgot her.
After a long conversation they had the girl didn't killed her mother but she suicide with the gun as she realised what she had done (the murders).
At my opinion the girl should had stayed alive and something should had happened to the mother. She lost her fake daughter and the real one, but when you read it you feel sorry about the mother. And that is not fair.

The end :)

Well ive read quite a lot over the holidays, it was SO hot in france. I read the Lord of the Rings, i wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and i was BLOWN AWAY. Seriously,if youre a good reader and havent read them, you should. they are a classic and tolkien is a master storyteller, you can almost imagine sitting on his knee as he reads to you.
After reading them i read the whole earthsea quartet (a wizard of earthsea, the tombs of autan, the farthest shore and tehanu) ive read the first but a friend on the holiday had the four and i read them all. If you like lord of the rings i would recommend this, slightly similar. However a new one has been released so ill get that soon. Ursula K. Le Guin (the author) chaged her mind and wrote another.
Then i read Shades Children by Garth Nix. AMAZING seriously, its just incredible, i liked his keys to the kingdom series but after this book he became one of my favourite authors and when i got back from holiday i bought the first book of another series, Sabriel.(im reading it now its really good so far)
Like i said it was very boring on holiday :shy:

When i got back from holiday the 11th book in the CHERUB series, Brigands M.C. (the one i mentioned above) was released so i bought it and read it in one day (i couldnt stop myself i wanted to read the end) Just beat the first book to be my favourite.

Anyway phew, thats what ive read so far, when ive finished sabriel ill get librael

Hey @Snizzbut - I finished the whole series now . I liked the Lost Colony the most as well . And The Time Paradox comes a close second . Don't worry , Eoin Colfer hasn't finished with Artemis yet . He left the series at a cliffhanger , with Opal still hiding and all ..

I highly recommend Hunger Games and Catching Fire, the first two books available in the trilogy from Suzanne Collins. Amazing stories! I can't wait for the third (as yet unnamed) installment in the series. It should be out in fall of 2010.

Read them both i actually did a book report on them i liked them i would recommend them to anyone who likes books that have a hint at love yet underlying turmoil followed by one tough decision after another so many twists youll be dying for the next one to come out :( waiting for september to roll around :) (stepahnie Meyer reviewed catching fire and said "I was so obsessed with this book that i had to take it with me out to dinner and hide it under the edge of the table so i wouldnt have to stop reading. The story kept me up for the several nights in a row, because even after i finished i lay in bed wide awake thinking about it....." The end of the second book threw a big twist right at the end so you sit there reading that last sentence and jsut stare and say well what happend next :'(

Edit: Between books currently just finished the newest Alex Rider book by Anthony Horowitz Book 8 in a 10 book series next to be out unknown.
Any recomendations for a book to read? I love fiction i read anything fast paced or anything just emersing

@funja have you read any books by Garth Nix?
If you havent then i would seriously recommend them especially shades children or the first of a series sabriel they are very deep and fast paced with amazing stories i got completely lost in their worlds. If you like modern stuff set in the future read shades children if you like more magic stuff read sabriel.
He also wrote the keys to the kingdom series (last book lord sunday isnt out yet) theyre a bit wierd and take a while to get used to but great anyway read mister monday and if you like it read the next one.
He is now my fav author of all time, (sorry JK youve been replaced)
Hes a bit like eoin colfer crossed with tolkien (imo anyway)

I just finished Dean Koontz's latest book, "Breathless." Very good, though I must admit I was a LITTLE disappointed in the ending. It felt a little as though he rushed the end. But it was still an AWESOME book. :)

EDIT: Tonight I'm planning on starting Stephen King's "Under the Dome." :D

You should read "A Big Little Life: Memoirs of a Joyful Dog" by Dean Koontz. While completely unlike his typical novel, this memoir is a MUST for pet lovers! I think you'd like it, EG. :)

I will check for it. I know he also wrote a Christmas book by "Trixie Koontz, dog." :P :D He's my all time favorite author and I love his humor. Plus, I am sure the memoirs of Trixie would be fabulous. :luv:

I've read every book he has ever written except for his Frankenstein series (I have the first in the series, but haven't yet read it) and the Trixie books. I even read his graphic novels. :)

Trixie Koontz, who is dog, has written 4 books now. :) I bought two of them for my mom for Christmas. "Bacon is good. I am good. Yet I am not bacon. Why? Mystery."

Ok, just found a new children's author to add to my favorites list... Kate DiCamillo (author of The Tale of Despereaux). I finished The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane tonight. It's a quick read, very simple, but it's been a long time since a book brought me to tears like this one did. So heart-warming, yet so heart-breaking...

Now moving on to Desereaux and soon the rest of her books. :)

Picked up another book about my state the other day,a slim volume called "It Happened in New Mexico".I knew it wasn't going to be any kind of in-depth history, but I like to have books like that around for out-of-state/country guests.

But I found a glaring mistake: At the end of the chapter "Countdown at Trinity" the author (James A. Crutchfield) writes: The Trinity Site is closed to the public....

WRONG

Trinity Site is open to the public the first Saturday of April & October (http://www.atomictourist.com/trinity.htm).I've been there, the reason for those particular dates is something they don't mention until you get there: during the winter it's too cold & during the summer the place is crawling with scorpions & rattlesnakes.
