well lately I have been scaning the forums and Im surprised that only a few people posts now. Im just missing the days when we chat nonstop and stay logged on until our eyes would give up on us. The days when we would chat with our online families and talk about anything funny.

Yep, real life can suck you in and never let go again :(

It doesn't has to be a bad thing. However it is sometimes curious that also long time friendships are abandoned with it. For some the internet became an addiction and they had to step away from it entirely. For others the internet became some sort of replacement of the real life and now they are back to their own real life. Other left because of drama and issues with others. Other gained other interests.

I think internet friendship can be part of your own private real life. It's just a matter of involving and to be not afraid to take the step with those who proved to be real - not just internet / forum characters.

I really do miss the friendships I've had on here that I no longer have seeing as the other half has disappeared, though I am glad for them that they've made the decision to pursue whatever makes them happy, even if that includes having to leave GH for a while.

:group-hug: Interesting thread - I've been a member of this forum for almost 5 years now. Glad so many of you are still here even though I've only had contact with a few I read the posts with interest.

This may be a bit of escapism, but it is also part of who I am - I like doing puzzles and games

I'd like to say this site and the people in it influenced a big part of who I am today. I was given an outlet to input all my thoughts and feelings and grow as a person and I'll always be appreciative of that.

I do wish that I had never left, but it's been almost 4 years since I went inactive; the time just flies by. I'm not sure what it was at the time, but I may have just forgotten (luckily I can easily bookmark good sites like this one :)).

What I think has caused the inactivity in most is, as stated previously in the thread, real life! Also there isn't as much interest for online games now; it seems to be more about iPod apps now. I still do play online games, but I limit myself now to just the one (RS). It would be good if GamersHood could become unique and open up to the iPod apps in a way, perhaps showing interesting app games or having a mobile-friendly site. Though re-thinking I'm not sure it would work. It seems that even apps are decreasing in popularity.

What is the world doing in 2013?!?!?
I blame work/school. :P

Oh yeah. It's real easy to get in that trap of "I have things to do, I'll get on (x) later.", but then you never do. Luckily some people come back, some don't. It's just a cycle that while annoying, is necessary.

My gosh! Hi guys!

I was sorting to some old e-mails and I came across one referring to this thread :D

Every time I go back and visit here reminds me of the time I was so addicted to online games hihi :) The friendships that was built, the online family I had(wondering where they are now). Oh! the good times. Those were the best. Great reading your replies.

It's hard to watch when age taking it over. Hopefully you can do things to comfort him. My grandfather didn't allow me. I could have made things so much more nicer for me. Now I can't anymore. He died in march 19th. That is also the reason he have been barely online. Now things are getting back to normal and I do enjoy life and all the fun things. Thinking about starting a new study next year. Daughter and husband are doing very well too. :)

Change comes in many flavors, tasty and bitter. Sometimes I come back to the site, nose around for a while, and I feel for a few minutes as though I could slip back into the way things were. But change is inevitable. And there's a harsher truth that we like to forget. Or we try to fool ourselves into disbelieving. Or fantasize about defying. No matter how nostalgic we grow, or how many pieces are put back into place, there is no going back. By all the powers of the world and existence, there's no staying put, and there's no going back. The only option left is scary. It's uncertain. But trying to resist it, mourning what was left behind, these are choices that only make the inevitable worse.

Not to say that everything should be forgotten. There is value in the past. Preserved words, ideas, lessons. It's just futility to imagine implanting your present self in that time, or to imagine implanting that past time into this present age. Even if a great amount of life was breathed back into this website, and many old members returned, it would be different. I've changed. You've changed. The times have changed. The pieces might find a new way to fit together, but the old picture will always be a product of a moment in time, never to be fully revisited.

Hi Oscar, nice to see you, too!
I plan to visit from time to time, yes.
I'm doing well, thank you. Got a challenging but very interesting job that I love counseling young adults with a difficult past, and trying to get them back on track and help them build a new perspective in life (incl. job training or finding a job). So, I'm pretty busy, and sometimes I wish a day had more than 24 hours, so that I had time and energy for everything else I would like to do, and everyone I would like to keep in touch with more often... But that's life I guess
How about you?

Well, forums were an important part of social media 10-15 years ago, now there are a lot of other channels, and times have changed. I still hope that GH will stay up for a while.

The social media didn't get any better lately with all those selfies, do you still have that deathray on board? Maybe you could get rid of the Kardashians, that would be a good start. And i have a couple of people in mind after that.
