  • Favorite One Hit Wonders

Does anyone have a favorite one hit wonder? One hit wonders are songs by bands, singers, and groups that hit the top and that was the high point with their sucess. In other words, they only had one song that came out on top which was called their "one hit wonder".

hmm, wouldn't call the Beasty Boys a one hit wonder, with fight for your right, sabotage and no sleep till brooklyn as songs hitting the charts too.

      My favourites
      Deacon Blue - Your town
Lloyd Cole and the Commotions - Rattlesnakes
It's immaterial - driving away from home
      just a drummer in a rock&roll band

One hit wonders; I have three that immediately come to mind that I loved from the 90s:

        Folk Implosion:Natural One
Kay's Choice: I'm not an addict
Crash Test Dummies:Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm

Although they are not a one hit wonder by definition, I also used to like Type O Negative too.

Oh, I love the song "Take On Me" from A-ha. From the very first moment I heard it (the 80's, I was a kid back then). The clip fascinated me and I still like the clip very much.

Also I like the song "Not a Addict" from K's Choice, although I like the song "Everything For Free" more. In Belgium and the Netherland this band also hasn't a one hit wonder. Besides "Not an Addict", the song "Believe" was a number one hit. I am not sure if "Everything For Free" ever became a number one hit, but it was a big hit in Belgium and The Netherlands for several weeks.

Okay, don't tomato me, but when I was a kid I also loved "The Final Countdown" from Europe. Definitive a number one hit wonder.

I love one-hit wonders!! they're ones no-one ever forgets!! I just don't like when bands do copies of the origianals because they think its a sure way of making the charts.. it always spoils the magic of the originals!! the first one in my list being a PRIME example!! the silly 'band' (if you can even call them that!!) that covered it, never lived it down IMHO

I've got a lot of fave's but these are the ones I thought of straight away.

There She Goes – The La's
                        My Sharona – The Knack
                        Rock Me Amadeus – Falco
Video Killed the Radio Star – The Buggles
                        99 Red Balloons – Nena
                        Spaceman – Babylon Zoo

The unspecifically shaped member of the Looney Bin

I haven't listened to them in a long time, but I love their cover of "Summer Breeze." So much better than the original.

                          Oh, yes... back to 1HW--

                          In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (Iron Butterfly)
Incense and Peppermints (Strawberry Alarm Clocks)

At least, I think these are 1HWs.
