Tab Key?

I've tried searching the threads but came up with nothing. I'm new to the forums and I'm absolutely addicted to room escape games. I've seen mention more than once of using "Tab" in the games but don't know what that means. Can someone please explain?

The tab key on your keyboard is the one that's usually on the left, and has two arrows in opposite directions on it.
Sometimes also "tab" is written on it, but not on all keyboards.

Ok, I guess I wasn't clear. I know what the tab key IS, but now how to USE it in the game.

In some room escape games, if you hit the tab key, the available hotspots are shown on the screen, and thus are easy to locate. But in most games this is disabled, and you have to do pixelhunting on your own
