NationStates is a free nation simulation game. Build a nation and run it according to your own warped political ideals. Create a Utopian paradise for society's less fortunate or a totalitarian corporate police state. Care for your people or deliberately oppress them. Join the United Nations or remain a rogue state. It's really up to you.
NationStates is a cool online political simulator. I've been playing this game for over three years now, so if you're into nation sims, you should like it!

You create your own nation: name it, choose a national flag, currency, and animal, then make selections that will determine the government and political/social policy of your nation.

That's the base technical aspect of the game. From there, you will answer issues every day that will continue molding your nation however you so choose. You may also create your own region, or move your nation to a different region of your liking. You may create as many nations as you like, but only one nation may hold membership in the United Nations at a time. The game staff recently added a new element of "influence"--the longer you've been in a region and the more UN endorsements you have, the more influence you accumulate (read the FAQ for details).

There are different kinds of role play in this game--normal character and war RP, etc, and then "gameplay" RP, which is basically RPing national, regional, and international politics. Most of the action takes place on the NationStates forum, or on regional and alliance forums.

There is aspect of the game, which is also referred to as "gameplay" style. It involves invading and defending regions, and has led to the creation of many in-game alliances.

You should check it out, particularly if you're into this type of sim/community.
