@Choc....I'm sure you're right regarding the hype on the news, but please be sure to wash your hands a lot and take good care of yourself. I thought of you and Carmit when I saw on the news about the students who had traveled to Mexico.

@Crimson...Yes, that's what the news is reporting regarding the little boy. We also have it on our area now, too. (Well, the county next to ours.) Just wash your hands a lot, and stay away from sick people. I won't be shaking hands with anyone for awhile.

i will it's good that there is a cure for it though. the only bad thing is that some people are faking symptoms so they can stock up on Tamiflu they are taking it when they aren't even infected, which of course means that they will become immune to Tamiflu and if they do get the swine flu, well it won't be good...

apparently there's a woman who lives about 30 mins away from where i live that is infected with the swine flu, which is pretty scary

Two more schools have closed down in our area, as two more students have probable cases of the virus. The severity of the situation is proven by the fact that schools are being closed, despite the fact that our state standardized test (TAKS test) is scheduled to be administered this week.

That's absolutely true. They shouldn't take it unless they need it...

I can relate - as we have a few cases that near to me, too.

Exactly. But I AM glad they are taking such precautions to slow/stop the spread of it. I feel that with such early precautions, they can minimize the spread of it. Is your school open still?

Its awefull that around the world people are suffering and (in some cases) dying from swine flu.
It seems most people's opinion here in Scotland is "bird flu and sars all over again". Like with previous "pandemics" its being hyped by the media.
Considering the small population of scotland and the number of confirmed cases so far I would say we are at the same risk as most other countries just now. We have 5 or 6 confirmed cases in Scotland with more in the rest of the UK.
Personaly, I will wait a wee while before getting seriously worried about it. As it stands just now Sars is still level 3 threat (W.H.O.) and most people are no longer worried about that. They put the warning up to make sure countries are preparing themselves for all possibilities.
I know that I dont share the same oppinion as most people on here.

I'l eat my words if I find myself infected.

Yes, although there was a small scare today... a student in my grade level visited Mexico over spring break was sick today, but it looks like it was just the stomach bug.

In my opinion it's not really a big threat, I think the reason mexico has all this death is because there are alot of poor areas there that cannot afford to be clean and healthy, when I went there if you were sick, you either went to a hospital if you had money, or another hospital if you didn't have money, and the reason no one has died is because other areas of the world have a little better or less poor areas and are more catious when it comes to washing hands, which is the best way not to get the swine flu, the only problem I have with it is that it closes down businesses in Mexico which can cause alot of problems to some people

H1N1 (swine flu virus) is very dangerous for pigs and humans have.
Tasheem was like "I don't want the swine flu."

I say they put the pigs from mexico and who have it should be a other pen.

    I'm worried about friends,family,and myself.

I'm very worried about a pandemic!

    But not panicing....yet.

I think right now they might be more worried about how to stay alive, other than how to keep their businesses up and running.
