Ok, I've been in all the rooms and have

three red balls, (one in the fireplace scene, one in the opening scene, and one in the closet scene) talked to the purple ball thing. and that's it, so far.

After I found the three balls,

I got the fireplace lit, placed the three balls in the desk under the mirror, talked to the person in the mirror, got a key, used the key in the clock to get some real candles. Lit the candles in the fireplace and talked to the purple ball psychic again, he gave me a code for the piano.

Played the code on the piano, talked to the ghost, he gave me a color code to calm the monster down, used that, did the hotel puzzle, got the numbers from that (not sure if they change every game) opened the safe and calmed the monster down, talked to the mirror man, got a key, and left.
